Woodbridge Resident On 7-Game 'Jeopardy!' Winning Streak

WOODBRIDGE, VA — A Woodbridge resident started the new year on the right foot, winning her seventh game of "Jeopardy!" on Friday's show. Karen Farrell, a political consultant, will be going for an eighth win in a row on the next show.

In her seven-game winning streak, Farrell has won a total of $139,803. With her run of success on the game show, Farrell has now qualified for its Tournament of Champions.

"It's one of the most exciting things that's ever happened to me. It's hard to believe," Farrell said in an interview with the show's producers in the winner's circle after her fifth win.

Farrell said the most anxious part of her current run of success has been Final Jeopardy. In the moments leading up to Final Jeopardy, when contestants often put huge amounts of money on the line, she has found herself frantically trying to do the math correctly "so that you don't make a big mistake."

Farrell thanked her husband and her parents for their encouragement. She also told the producers that she and her husband have a baby girl. "I have a new daughter. So I'm probably going to put a little bit of it away for her education, maybe buy her a few toys and do some traveling," she said.

Getting to meet Alex Trebek, the show's long-time host who is battling pancreatic cancer, "was amazing," she added.
