Woodbridge Senior High Field Hockey Defeats Stonewall Jackson High
First home game of the fall 2010 season.
Woodbridge Senior High School's Varsity Women's Field Hockey team defeated the Stonewall Jackson Raiders, 8-0 in the home opener this evening at the A.T. Howard Stadium.
The kick-off to the Cardinal District team's season was a strong one, despite blistering heat and stifling humidity.
In the first half, the Vikings wasted no time scoring the first goal. Senior forward Chantal Gutierrez fired the ball past the Raiders goalie within the first seven minutes of the game.

The Vikings' offense powered through the first half, as another Viking forward Kelly Ludwig scored the fifth goal of the game.
Headed into the second half, the Vikings scored a seventh goal in the last three minutes of the first half.

Midfield defender sophomore KC Buckley delivered a powerhouse performance as well, supporting her team throughout the entirety of the game.
Stonewall Jackson attempted a goal early in the second half of the game to no avail. All attempts at goals were thwarted by Woodbridge goalie and senior Hali Haskins.
The Vikings swept the Raiders, 8-0. Riverbend High will face off against the Vikings at A.T. Howard Stadium on Sept. 1 at 7 p.m.
