2 Dozen Arrested In Puget Sound Drug-Dealing Operation

Dozens of weapons and a large cache of drugs were seized in a joint operation this week, with arrests stretching from Everett to Spanaway.

SEATTLE — A massive operation targeting illegal guns and drugs in Western Washington resulted in two dozen arrests from Everett to Spanaway, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Wednesday.

Federal prosecutors said the charges stemmed from an "extensive drug dealing conspiracy" in Puget Sound, which involved dozens of illicit firearms. The joint operation included help from the FBI, DEA, the U.S. Marshal Service and police agencies across the region.

“Too often the intersection of drug dealing and gun possession leads to violence in our communities,” said Tessa M. Gorman, acting U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Washington. “These defendants enriched themselves by feeding the addictions of the vulnerable and harming community health and safety. Community safety remains a priority for the Department of Justice.”

“Drug trafficking and violence are often intertwined, leaving communities and families devastated,” said Frank Tarentino, DEA Special Agent in Charge. “This strategic collaborative approach between federal and local law enforcement demonstrates our commitment to not only serve, but also protect the public from these violent criminal networks who terrorize their neighborhoods.”

The operation was led by the FBI's "Safe Streets" taskforce and included law enforcement from across the region, including the Seattle Police Department, Washington State Patrol, Pierce County Sheriff's Department, Puyallup Police Department and the King County Sheriff's Office.

Prosecution on the case will be led by two Assistant U.S. Attorneys, and the defendants have yet to enter their pleas.
