Bellevue Begins Mobile Vaccination Efforts At Adult Family Homes

In just the first few days, Bellevue's mobile vaccination team administered initial doses of coronavirus vaccines to more than 100 people.

BELLEVUE, WA — The Bellevue Fire Department's mobile vaccination is making good progress in reaching residents and staff of adult family homes, having administered first doses to more than 100 people in just a few days. The Bellevue City council received an update on the team's work during a meeting earlier in the week.

According to the city, Bellevue Fire was among the first agencies chosen by Public Health - Seattle & King County to participate in a pilot program that extends vaccination opportunities to populations with limited mobility. Concentrating on immunizations at adult family homes specifically could allow in-person visits to resume on a faster timeline.

In mid-January, Bellevue firefighters and medics participated in ridealongs with the Seattle Fire Department to learn the basics and completed their own training within a week, city officials said. The program was ready for a full rollout on Monday, with a team consisting of paramedics and EMTs.
