Bellevue Cat Is King County's Most-Fined Feline

The cat Miska has piled up more infractions than any other cat in King County. Her owner is suing to make it stop.

BELLEVUE, WA — A 10-year-old Bellevue cat has drawn thousands of dollars in fines from local animal control officials, and now the owner is suing to stop the kitty persecution.

The cat Miska is responsible for a majority of violations handed to cat owners in King County, according to the Tacoma News-Tribune. Miska's owner says that Regional Animal Services of King County and Bellevue have unfairly targeted the cat, even once putting her in kitty jail.

Over the last 10 years, just 50 violations have been handed out in King County to bad kitties, and 30 of those involve Miska, the lawsuit says. Part of the reason is because cats are not allowed to roam freely in Bellevue, Miska's attorney told the News-Tribune, and so the cat keeps getting cited for trespassing. Miska's owner can't build a fence because of homeowner association rules.
