Bellevue Police Track Down Suspect In Attempted Kidnapping

Bellevue police said a man suspected of trying to force a woman into his van at knifepoint is in custody in Snohomish County.

BELLEVUE, WA — Bellevue detectives have located the man suspected in an attempted kidnapping over the weekend, booked into the Snohomish County Jail on unrelated charges, the city announced Thursday.

Officers responded to 108th Avenue Northeast and Northrup Way shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday after a woman reported a man attempted to force her into his van at knifepoint. The woman told police she flagged down a passing car, then the suspect fled westbound on State Route 520.

Investigators shared a regionwide bulletin, and a Seattle detective recognized the description and provided a name to Bellevue detectives. Officials said they were able to successfully identify the suspect, jailed in Snohomish County, and determine that the van used in the crime was reported stolen out of Seattle.
