First Responders Help Save Missing Bellevue Woman

The woman was found in Redmond but went into cardiac arrest shortly after local officers responded.

First responders from Bellevue and Redmond are credited with saving the life of a Bellevue woman who was reporting missing by her family on Friday.

According to a press release, the family of the 74-year-old Bellevue woman reported her missing on Friday afternoon. At about 7:30 p.m. that night, she was found disoriented by a passerby in the 14000 block of NE 87th Street in Redmond.

As two Redmond police officers responded, she went into cardiac arrest. The officers began CPR while a Bellevue officer retrieved a defibrillator. They continued efforts until Redmond firefighters and paramedics arrived.

All first responders worked together for over twenty minutes delivering CPR, additional shocks, medications, and airway control until the patient was transported to Evergreen Hospital in Kirkland with a sustainable heart rhythm. The patient is currently in critical condition.

Redmond Police are trained in CPR by Redmond Fire personnel and this call happened to reunite the actual CPR instructors with two officers they trained.
