H Mart Coming to Bellevue in Fall

H Mart, a large Korean-themed grocery store that has been expanding in the Northwest, will come to Bellevue, it announced in a press release.

The New York-based H Mart, which will open in has plans to expand to Bellevue in late autumn, though the company did not immediately disclose the planned location. It also plans a downtown Seattle location, according to Seattle Metropolitan.

The Lakewood store will be 43,000 square feet and will offer a full-service grocery experience:

According to the company:

H Mart is short for “Han Ah Reum,” meaning “one arm full” in Korean. With the full selection of signature grocery items, according to H Mart Northwest Region President Jay Song, shoppers can expect to leave with full arms. The store will have a pharmacy, deli, Korean bakery, meat department, fish department and expansive produce offerings.

Approximately 40 percent of the items are Korean with the remaining percentage categorized as American or other international foods. For example, H Mart carries eight types of cucumbers ranging from British, Chinese to Korean varieties. This choice of international items accommodates all H Mart customers, 70 percent of which are Asian.

In Bellevue, the store joins other large Asian grocery stores including Uwajimaya at 699 120th Ave NE and Asian Food Center at 14509 NE 20th St. Pal-Do World recently closed when the Lake Hills Village renovation started.
