Injured Bellevue Owl Gets Police Escort To Hospital
A Bellevue police officer found the owl on the side of the road.
BELLEVUE, WA — A Bellevue police officer and a dispatcher joined forces to deliver an injured owl to the animal hospital Wednesday night. Bellevue PD's Officer Worthington found the owl on the side of the road struggling with some leg issues. He scooped up the bird and placed it in the patrol car, where the owl quickly established a temporary home - first in the passenger seat, then perched atop Worthington's laptop.
OWL UPDATE: He apparently has a bit of a bum wheel so he gladly accepted a ride to the vet hospital. Officer Worthington put him on a paper bag, but he wanted a better view of the road and hopped up on the dash. Hopefully, he didn't get cited for no seatbelt. pic.twitter.com/aoWJojDNUY

Worthington touched base with NORCOM and learned a dispatcher there knew someone who helps rescue and rehome animals. The owl got a tour of the dispatch center then was taken to a nearby animal hospital where the bird continues to recover.
Look whoooooooooo visited us tonight. This little guy was found injured on the side of the road. Bellevue PD brought him into dispatch and one of our dispatchers will be taking him to an animal hospital later tonight to be treated. “Owl” bet he’s glad we found him #iam911 pic.twitter.com/oKCHwPKymb
