Interstate 90 Closure Planned Over Lake Washington Late Saturday
Both directions of Interstate 90 will close between Seattle and Mercer Island into early Sunday, which will alter some late-night routes.
BELLEVUE, WA — Drivers planning to make late-night trips over Lake Washington Saturday will not have Interstate 90 as an option, as maintenance work close lanes in both directions between Interstate 5 in Seattle and Island Crest Way on Mercer Island. The overnight closure will be in place from 11:59 p.m. Saturday until 6 a.m. Sunday, giving crews time to complete some preservation work on the floating bridge.
The interruption means drivers looking for a way west will need to use State Route 520 or take the long way around Lake Washington via Interstate 405.
Drivers can also check the Washington State Department of Transportation's online travel alerts page before heading out, download the mobile app or follow WSDOT's Twitter page for the latest updates on closures and other traffic impacts.
