Man Accused In 2 Carjacking Attempts Arrested By Bellevue Police

Police said the 20-year-old assaulted two men in separate incidents Thursday morning and unsuccessfully tried to steal their vehicles.

BELLEVUE, WA — Bellevue police arrested a 20-year-old man Thursday morning, accused of assaulting two different people and attempting to steal their vehicles. Investigators said the first call came in at 5 a.m. when an employee of a store on Bellevue Way Northeast said someone opened his car door, pulled him out, and punched him repeatedly.

The victim told police the man got inside his car but could not figure out how to start it. Police said the man punched the victim again and threw him to the ground, demanding his keys. The victim told the man his keys were inside the car, and the suspect fled, police said.

Within a few minutes, another man called 911 from Northeast 32nd Place, telling dispatchers he was jumped while taking out the trash and violently attacked. The second victim said the man grabbed at his keys, then attempted to open his vehicle, but failed and ran away.

Bellevue officers, joined by King County K-9 units. searched the area and soon located the suspected culprit in a retention pond off State Route 520, east of Bellevue Way Northeast. Police said the man was heavily intoxicated and was booked into jail on suspicion of robbery after a medical evaluation.
