BELLEVUE, WA — All westbound lanes of the State Route 520 floating bridge were blocked Monday evening after an estimated 30 vehicles were involved in separate crashes, according to Washington State Patrol. Temperatures at the time of the collisions were at or below freezing, and icy roads were believed to have played a role.

The Washington Department of Transportation said maintenance crews were sent to the bridge's east highrise shortly before 6:30 p.m. Drivers heading toward Seattle were advised to use alternative routes, like Interstate 90 or Interstate 405. Detours were in place at 92nd Avenue Northeast.

Westbound lanes were fully reopened at 10 p.m. Monday night.
