Dog Days Of Kirkland: Sign Up Your Pup For A Virtual Dog Show

Kirkland pet parents have until Sept. 3 to sign up their dogs for a chance at stardom. The top dog will win a professional portrait session.

KIRKLAND, WA — Our furry family members have a shot at stardom and a chance to win a few free treats in Kirkland over the next few weeks. This year, the city's parks department is putting on a virtual dog show, accepting 20 canine contestants across nine categories:

  • Best Purse Pooch: small breed dogs (under 10 lbs.)
  • Best Saddle Me Up: large breed dogs (over 60 lbs.)
  • Best AARP: Dogs over 10 years old
  • Cutest L'il Poochie-Coochie Coo: Dogs under 9 months old
  • #1 Average Joe/Miss Congeniality: dogs with personality
  • Best Runway Rover: "Good lookin' supermodel" dogs
  • Best Separated at Birth Pair: dogs and owners who resemble each other the most
  • Best Face Only A Mother Could Love: Most "unusual" dog
  • Best Dressed: Best dog costume

Pets can be registered until Sept. 3, but space is limited to 20 pups per category. To enter, register online and submit your pet's photo via e-mail. Entries will be posted on the Kirkland Parks and Community Services Facebook page in an album for each category. Winners will be chosen after Sept. 12, based on the number of likes each photo receives.

The winners of each category will each receive a $25 gift card to Denny's Pet World, and the grand prize winner will get a Deluxe Pet Portrait Session at Jennifer Wollman Photography.
