KIRKLAND, WA — King County is in the home stretch of the 2020 General Election, with all ballots due by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Amid record turnout, projected at 90 percent, early voting has kept up a record pace heading toward Election Day, topping 75 percent in the state's most populous by Monday morning.

King County Elections officials told Patch they expect election night results will include a record 1 million ballots, compared with 615,000 ballots tabulated on election night in 2016. The earliest results will not include votes cast Monday or Tuesday, which will be reflected in later tallies. The county expects to have most ballots counted by Friday. The deadline for the election's certification is Tuesday, Nov. 24.

Last-minute voters still have plenty of chances to make their voice heard, utilizing dozens of drop boxes throughout King County or any of the county's seven vote centers. In Washington, in-person voter registration is possible right up until the polls close at 8 p.m.
