Evenings On Park Lane Returns For The Summer On Monday
Downtown Kirkland's outdoor dining program returns for a second year on May 24, closing off the west end of Park Lane every evening.
KIRKLAND, WA — Kirkland's outdoor dining program returns for a second year next week, giving businesses, restaurants and customers more space to enjoy the downtown core every night until October.
"Evenings on Park Lane expands opportunities for people walking and biking to enjoy our downtown businesses," said Kirkland City Councilmember Jon Pascal. "We invite you to rediscover this vibrant corridor and support our business community."
The timeframe for this season's Evenings on Park Lane is a little different than last year, narrowing from a full overnight road closure to align more closely with business hours. Beginning May 24, the west end of Park Lane will be closed to vehicles every night, between Lake Street and Main Street, from 6-11 p.m. Once restaurants close for the night, the road will reopen to traffic.

The new framework follows weeks of community engagement, inviting residents to weigh in on four proposed options in resuming the program. Earlier this month, the Kirkland City Council approved a modified version of the first option, which largely mirrors how the program worked in 2020.
Drivers can find street parking nearby, and in the Peter Kirk Municipal Garage, the Wester Lot, Marina Park, the Lake & Central lot and City Hall. Other pay lots and garages are located throughout downtown, and visitors can check out a parking map online. The city encourages visitors to walk, bike, bus, or carpool when possible. Bus routes 255, 248, 235 and 234 have stops right at Park Lane and 3rd Street.
