GALLERY: State-of-Art Cancer Center at Evergreen Celebrates Grand Opening
The new 26,000-square foot Halvorson Cancer Center is a collaboration of EvergeenHealth Medical Center and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, designed to bring state of the art cancer care to the Eastside.
A new cancer center at Kirkland’s EvergreenHealth Medical Center aiming to bring national-quality care to the Eastside threw open its door to the community during a grand opening Saturday.
Spacious at 26,000-square feet and designed with input from patients, families, staff and physicians, the Halvorson Cancer Center is a collaboration between EvergreenHealth and the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.

It will be used by patients of both organizations and was built primarily through contributions, including its major benefactors and namesakes, Elling and Barbara Halvorson of Woodinville.
“So this was a community campaign that allowed this to come to fruition,” center director Rose Guerrero of Kirkland said while leading a tour. “I’m so excited to do this with the community. We’re very proud of this.”

The center’s six departments were designed to have no or than 50 footsteps between each and provide a comprehensive range of cancer care and support services in a warm and comforting environment.
The center on the EvergreenHealth campus at 12040 NE 128th Street in Kirkland has been opened in stages. It first served patients last November, with its oncology department opening Jan. 10 and other departments Jan. 21. It's grand opening was celebrated Saturday.
