Kelly Hudson Trial Continued to Monday, Sept. 16

Hudson's lawyer requested a short continuation this week due to a health issue.

The trial date of Kirkland resident Kelly Hudson has been moved to Monday, Sept. 16. It was scheduled for this week, but Hudson's lead counsel, Scott E. Wonder, requested a two-day continuation this week after suffering a ruptured eardrum in late August.

Kelly Hudson of Kirkland wascharged with one count of vehicular homicide and three counts of vehicular assault in an Aug. 7, 2012, crash on Juanita Drive that killed 81-year-old Joyce Parsons.

Charging documents say Hudson admitted to police that she had consumed wine and taken a prescription anti-anxiety drug before she allegedly crossed the centerline in her minivan and struck a car head-on with four people in it.

Parsons, who lived just blocks away from Hudson on Finn Hill, died at the scene. Parsons' brother, Arthur Kamm of Bellevue, was seriously injured in the collision.

Hudson's trial has also been delayed several times and was most recently pushed to Sept. 11. If convicted of all charges, she faces between 12 and 16 years in prison.
