KFD Cuts Off Car Roof, Rescues Driver

Firefighters responded to the rollover accident on 116th Avenue in the Totem Lake West area during Tuesday evening's commute.

 

Kirkland firefighters cut off the roof of a vehicle that rolled over on 116th Avenue in the Totem Lake area Tuesday evening to rescue the driver, who was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A post on the Kirkland Firefighters Facebook page said the accident occurred at about 5:30 p.m. in the 12500 block of 116th Avenue NE in the Totem Lake West area, near the busy NE 124th interchange on Interstate 405.

Kirkland Fire Department Capt. Larry Peabody confirmed that there was only one person in the vehicle and that the injuries were not life threatening. Four Kirkland Fire Department crews responded to the scene.

Kirkland Police Sgt. Rob Saloum said the driver was a woman, and her car rolled onto its side after being hit in the side by another vehicle. "It was just a traffic accident," he said. "She got tagged by someone else."
