UPDATE: Crash on I-405 in Kirkland Kills Vancouver Man

Update, 8:15 p.m. -- The 44-year-old driver who died in a one-car crash Friday was identified as Todd Bekins of Vancouver, WA. The Washington State Patrol said he died at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.

Update, 6:30 p.m. -- The Washington State Patrol says a 44-year-old driver from Vancouver, WA, was killed in a crash Friday on northbound Interstate 405.

The driver of the 2005 Chevrolet Blazer was approaching the Northeast 85^th Street exit and went off the road to the right, hitting the exit sign. The Blazer caught on fire after it hit the sign, the Patrol said. The driver wasn’t wearing a seatbelt.

His name has not been released.

One person was killed in a single-car crash Friday afternoon on Interstate 405 in Kirkland, according to Kirkland firefighters.

An SUV hit a large sign post at high speed and then caught fire on northbound I-405 at the 8000 block, firefighters said in a post on their Facebook page.

Other drivers pulled the motorist from the vehicle and started CPR.

The Washington State Patrol is investigating.
