As we returned our secondary students to their campuses, we indicated that we would set benchmark dates for evaluating COVID case rates and test positivity on four dates throughout the remainder of this school year (April 23, May 7, May 21, and June 4). As of today, the following data is being reported by King County Public Health:
Additionally, we have been monitoring positive cases in our schools to determine if there is any evidence of a COVID-19 outbreak on our campuses. You can view our health and safety dashboard here: Health & Safety Dashboard - Lake Washington School District (lwsd.org)

According to the Washington State Department of Health, a COVID-19 outbreak is considered when the following have been met:
- There are two or more laboratory-positive (PCR or antigen) COVID-19 cases among students or staff.
- The cases have a symptom onset within a 14-day period of each other.
- The cases are epidemiologically linked.
- The cases do not share a household.
- The cases are not identified as close contacts of each other in another setting during the investigation.
All of our cases are reported to King County Public Health and we maintain contact with that agency to ascertain whether there is evidence of spread on our secondary campuses when campuses experience multiple positive cases.

Therefore, as a result of our evaluation of this data, all LWSD Schools will continue with current learning model. No changes to 4-day per week schedule.
Finally, King County Public Health and the Washington State Department of Health are both maintaining expectations for mask guidance to remain in effect for schools at this time."
