Major Water Main Malfunction Closes Kirkland's Premier Hotel Until August

The water main malfunction occurred early Friday morning at the Heathman Hotel on Kirkland Avenue. The hotel has relocated its guests and is working to repair the damages as quickly as possible.

 

A major water main malfunction early Friday morning has resulted in the closure of one of Kirkland’s top hotels at the start of the Memorial Day Weekend, the on Kirkland Avenue downtown.

A statement by the hotel said the damage to the hotel, its spa and highly regarded restaurant was so bad the entire facility could be closed until Aug. 1.

Les Utley, general manager of the hotel, declined to comment further than a brief statement released by the hotel Friday evening. But he said the water main malfunction occurred at about 1:45 a.m. Thursday.

“We’ve got a lot on our hands,” he said Friday evening. “We’ll be meeting early next week, and we’re doing everything we can.”

The statement issued by the hotel said guests had been relocated to facilities nearby.

“Today, The Heathman Hotel Kirkland has experienced a main waterline malfunction resulting in significant damage to the hotel, spa and restaurant.  The entire property will be closed until August 1, allowing for repairs and renovations.  In the meantime, we will be relocating all guests and groups to facilities nearby.  As a commitment to our guests, employees and the community, we will be working with crews around the clock to reopen as quickly as possible. We will have a progress report early next week and will provide an update for projected reopening at that time.

"Those individuals with reservations, who need assistance with relocation, please call our main number 425-284-5800 and our guest services staff will be available to assist you in selecting alternate accommodations.  Clients with corporate or Private Dining events are requested to please contact your sales representative directly for assistance. We thank those who have reached out to us today and we are committed to bringing The Heathman Hotel, Trellis Restaurant and Penterra Spa back to full-service for our loyal guests as quickly as possible.”
