New Barnes & Noble Opens At Totem Lake This Week
The Kirkland bookstore will be Barnes & Noble's first new opening in the Seattle area in 14 years.

KIRKLAND, WA — A new Barnes & Noble is coming to The Village at Totem Lake this week, marking the bookseller's first Seattle-area expansion in more than a decade. Starting Wednesday, shoppers will be able to visit the store at the growing shopping center, located right next door to Whole Foods.
According to Barnes & Noble, the Kirkland location boasts "a dramatic change in the bookseller's appearance," complete with oak bookshelves, and the local team will play a big role in curating the store's offerings.
"Barnes & Noble is so pleased to be opening new bookstores again," said James Daunt, the company's new CEO. "This new store at Kirkland is an especially beautiful one. Dave Rossiter's team [has] embraced the challenge to create within it a distinctive, energetic bookstore that promises to be truly exceptional."

In the weeks leading up to the grand opening, the company said its Kirkland crew has been hard at work packing the shelves, building robust sections for children's books and young adult titles alongside its customary fiction and non-fiction titles. Shoppers will also find an in-store cafe with Starbucks coffee and stocked with local treats.
"Our store is warm and inviting, with a very contemporary feeling," said Dave Rossiter, the store's manager. "It truly encompasses everything I look for in a bookstore. It is my hope that this store will become a sport where locals can come and be assured that they will find their next great read."
