Portions of Juanita Beach Park Slated to Open Aug. 5
A lot of final work is slated for the next three weeks.
Parts of the long-awaited restored Juanita Beach Park are expected to open by Aug. 5, the city said.
The new contractor, Marshbank Construction, said the southern, beach-side portion should be done by then. Work in the next three weeks includes finalizing the irrigation system, installing seed and sod, building a new boardwalk and bridges, installing fencing and planting hundreds of plants, shrubs and trees.
Restoration of the Juanita Creek Enhancement Area is also starting.

“A great deal of work has been completed in these past weeks,” said Jennifer Schroder, Director, Parks & Community Services Department, in a news release Friday. “We, like the community, are hoping to have the park open as soon as possible and for good weather as the construction schedule is weather dependent.”
The city hired Marshbank Construction after dumping its previous contractor for not finishing the work on time. (See previous coverage here.)
