Ready for a Swim? Lifeguards on Duty at 3 Kirkland Beaches
The city of Kirkland added Juanita Beach to its roundup of public beaches with lifeguards starting today, July 1.

Lifeguards take to the water today, July 1, at Waverly, Houghton, and-- this year for the first time--Juanita beaches in Kirkland.
The lifeguards are on duty from noon to 6 p.m. daily until Sept. 2.

Waverly Beach
Lifeguards: Monday-Sunday 12-6pmHoughton Beach Park - 5811 Lake Washington Blvd There are shallow areas for small children, sunbathing dock, floating platform and a 50 yard lap swimming lane.

 Juanita Beach Park - 9703 NE Juanita Drive
 Juanita Beach provides an area completely enclosed by a "U" shaped dock with a sandy beach and shallow swimming area.Lifeguards: Monday-Sunday 12-6pm
* Lifeguards will be off-duty on inclement weather days or when air temperature is below 65 degrees*
The benchmark for successfully passing the non-surf Open Water Swim Test requires a minimum of 25 yards crawlstroke with side breathing. Those demonstrating a weak stroke will not be permitted to go beyond the shallow water buoy line. Adults 18 years and older must remain within arm's reach of children under the age of 7.
Swimming along Kirkland shorelines shall be confined to restricted swimming areas as per KMC 14.20.010
