Totem Lake Park Open House Set for Saturday, Sept. 21

Kirkland will unveil 3 design alternatives for Totem Lake Park at the outdoor Open House, Sept. 21, and gather public comment that will shape the preferred alternative.

The City of Kirkland Parks and Community Services Department is inviting citizens to review and comment on design alternatives for Totem Lake Park at a public outdoor open house on Saturday, Sept. 21, between the hours of 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

The open house will be located in the parking lot of the Yuppie Pawn Shop, located at 12031 NE Totem Lake Way, just north of the lake.

Citizens can drop by to meet with Kirkland Park Board members, parks staff, and design consultants to examine three conceptual design alternatives.  Public input will be used to consolidate the alternatives into one preferred schematic design for the park master plan.

Goals for the park master plan include improving the lake’s ecological value, creating a better sense of place for the Totem LakeNeighborhood, encouraging future economic development of the business district, and connecting with the adjacentCross Kirkland Corridor.  The master plan for the park will be completed in 2013.
