Two-Way Traffic Returning to Third Street
Contractors working to get new Kirkland Transit Center open by Feb. 26.

Intermittent two-way traffic will return Wednesday afternoon to Third Street downtown as contractors put the finishing touches on the new $13.3 million Kirkland Transit Center, scheduled to open Feb. 26, says Sound Transit.
Traffic has been reduced to one lane for months on Third between Central Way and Kirkland Avenue – a major downtown connector. Crews on Wednesday were finishing paving and installing traffic signals, Sound Transit reported in a news release.
However, closing one of the two lanes will be necessary at times as contractors complete signage and artwork and clean up.

Pedestrians are advised to use caution when walking along Third. The mid-block crosswalk connecting the east end of Park Lane to the Kirkland Library and Peter Kirk Park will reopen about mid-month.
Several bus routes will return to the transit center when it reopens as well. To learn more, visit http://metro.kingcounty.gov/up/scvchange.html.
