Viewfinder: Hundreds in Kirkland Celebrate Mother's Day With Run in Sun
More than 2,400 runners and walkers turned out in sunny skies for the Kirkland Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk Sunday, starting and finishing at Juanita Beach Park.
More than 2,400 runners and walkers celebrated a gorgeous, blue-sky Mother's Day morning Sunday by participating in the based at .
By almost all accounts it was a resounding success -- certainly among the hundreds from all over the Eastside and Seattle who earned a red ribbon and medal by finishing the 13.1 miles of the half marathon.
We did, however, hear that one of Kirkland's finest, leading the half marathoners on a motorcycle, accidentally took a wrong turn and led the runners a few blocks off-course. But none we spoke with seemed to notice. More daunting was the uphill climb of Market Street at mile 12!
