Wastemobile Visits Kirkland Friday Through Sunday
Kirkland residents will have three days to drop off hazardous household items at the Totem Lake Fred Meyer.
KIRKLAND, WA — King County's traveling Wastemobile is making its annual visit to Kirkland this week, offering a safe, easy and free way to properly dispose of hazardous household items through Sunday.
Here's where to go:
- When: Friday, May 7 - Sunday, May 9
- 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Where: Totem Lake Fred Meyer (12221 120th Avenue Northeast, Kirkland)
The list of accepted items is long and includes car fluids, cleaning products, batteries and fluorescent lights. Residential customers can bring a total of 50 gallons in a day, with single containers limited to 5 gallons.

Here are a few things you can bring:
- Batteries (including up to five car batteries)
- Fluorescent lights
- Gasoline and motor oil
- Inks and dye
- Fertilizers with pesticides or herbicides
- Charcoal
- Oil filters
- Pepper spray
- Propane and butane tanks
- ...and more!
Residents with specific questions, unusual items, or larger quantities can give King County's hazardous waste team a call at 206-296-4692. The free drive-thru event will run according to public health guidelines, and staffers will remove items from trunks, back seats, or pickup beds.

Here are a few safety tips:
- Keep products in their original containers whenever possible. Label products that are not marked.
- Don’t mix or combine products.
- Secure products so they won’t tip or leak.
- Don’t transport products in the passenger compartment of your vehicle. Cover and tie down items in truck beds.
- Stay in your vehicle - staff will remove items from your trunk or back seat.
- Wear a mask and keep at least 6 feet of space between yourself and others.
- If you are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, or if someone in your household is, we ask that you do not visit a drop-off location.
