Woman Jumps From Upper Floor in Apparent Suicide at Juanita Village
Kirkland police say a 73-year-old woman apparently jumped from a condominium balcony above the Juanita Village plaza Thursday night at about 8:30 p.m.
A 73-year-old woman apparently committed suicide Thursday night by jumping off an upper floor balcony of a condominium in Juanita Village, according to Kirkland police.
A reader tipped Kirkland Patch to the incident, which occurred about 8:30 p.m., writing of activity by police, fire and aid crews in the courtyard of Juanita Village, in an area marked off by police tape.

The woman landed near the Urban Coffee Lounge and the village plaza fountain, said Sgt. Mike Murray, spokesman for the Kirkland Police Department.
“She jumped off the fourth or fifth floor of the building above the coffee shop,” he said. “Everything leads us to believe it was a suicide.”

The investigation remains open pending a ruling by the King County Medical Examiner’s office, but the victim left a note.
“Officers with the help of fire and aid crews entered the residence and found a stool pulled up to the edge of the balcony, and also a note,” Murray said.
He said a good-sized crowd gathered around the area, drawn by the activity of police and aid crews. The village is in downtown Juanita at 98th Avenue NE and Juanita Drive.
