Zaw Brings 'SOUL' Pizza to Kirkland

There's a new pizza place opening in Kirkland Sunday, June 2, and it has SOUL--featuring Seasonal, Organic, Unique, Local ingredients, co-founder Greg Scott says.

Launched in 2008, Zaw brings its concept of fresh, seasonally inspired bake-at-home pizzas to Kirkland with its eighth Seattle area neighborhood store.

Scott said the business has been eyeing its new spot across the street from the Kirkland Public Library and Peter Kirk Park since before Crush Footwear leased it, and jumped at the chance when Crush relocated to Lake Street.  

Zaw creates unique combinations of pizzas and salads that customers can enjoy fresh out of the oven, in their own home. Scott says the business resembles other take-n-bake pizza shops only in that you bake the pizza at home yourself. "That's where the similarities end," Scott says.

All of the businesses' ingredients are prepared fresh daily at Zaw's commissary and central kitchen and delivered to the stores. The ingredients are so fresh, in fact, Scott says, that the stores don't have freezers, though the Kirkland does have a small floor freezer added for homemade ice cream. Once the new location is running smoothly, it also will add delivery service, currently available at its other locations.

In addition to pizzas and salads, Zaw offers delicious, big bake-at-home cookies, and homemade ice cream. 

Another unique feature is the 100% Pacific Northwest wine and beer list. 

“We’ve always emphasized pairing up pizza selections with great local beer and wine that is crafted in our Northwest backyard, Scott says.  “We feel our current selection provides value grocery priced options to perfectly round out a 'great night-in'.” 

A customer favorite is the Classic Combo which includes any pizza, a bottle of Lone Birch wine, and a large salad, all for $30, every night of the week.
