911 Caller Helps Police Arrest Four-Time Drunken Driver
A man arrested on Howell Avenue tried to drive away from police, according to a report.

A 911 caller following a vehicle swerving all over the road helped lead officers to a man who was arrested for his fourth drunken-driving offense.
According to an Oak Creek police report released this week, the witness followed the vehicle from the area of College and Pennsylvania avenues to Howell Avenue about 2:20 a.m. Aug. 8.Â
An officer located the vehicle in the parking lot of United Auto Workers, 7100 S. Howell Ave., and activated a spotlight. The driver then looked back at the squad car before putting the vehicle in drive in an attempt to leave, according to the report.Â
After the vehicle hit the curb, the officer ordered the driver to shift back into park.Â
The driver had slurred speech, poor balance, glassy eyes and smelled of alcohol, according to the report. He admitted to drinking several beers but refused to take sobriety tests or a breath test.
The man was arrested and taken to Wheaton Franciscan Hospital for a blood draw.Â
