Spike Trap Used On Stolen Vehicle By Oak Creek Police: Report

The Oak Creek Police Department stopped a stolen vehicle using a spike strip this week, a new report said.

OAK CREEK, WI — The Oak Creek Police Department used a spike trap to stop a stolen vehicle from Racine on Monday, according to a criminal complaint obtained by The Journal Times.

The criminal complaint shows that Racine County Sheriff's deputies received report of a car being stolen from Quarry Lake Park around 9 p.m. Monday, the Journal Times report said.

Police from Mount Pleasant tracked the stolen vehicle heading north. The criminal complaint states that Oak Creek Police Department was notified that the stolen vehicle was headed their way, Journal Times reported.

Oak Creek Police Department encountered the vehicle near Lake Vista Park. Officers used a spike trap against the car, successfully stopping it on Ryan Road near Lake Vista Park, the report said, citing the criminal complaint.

A 17-year-old male was charged afterward with disorderly conduct and felony operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent.
