Car Dealership, Repair Shop Proposed For S. 13th Street

OAK CREEK, WI — The owners of Apex Motorwerx and Speed Shop are one step closer to opening up in Oak Creek after city officials advanced their request to the Common Council. In the process, city officials voiced several concerns about the business.

Douglas and Greg Mayr are asking city officials for approval to open at a property at 8041 S. 13th Street. That location is located just south of W. Drexel Ave. and just east of I-94.

Based on documentation submitted to officials for review, the business would be open six days a week, and would have several cars parked outside the building for display and sale.

The business would be staffed Monday through Friday and Saturdays by appointment, and would be staffed by a manager/service writer, a sales and finance expert, a head technician, shop help and part-time employees to oversee concierge services.

According to official documents, staff has raised concern over how the property would be used because it is "potentially incompatible with the surrounding residential nature of the neighborhood."

City officials raised concerns over evening and nighttime sales and services hours six days per week, permanent outdoor display of vehicles for sale, no landscaping or other buffer to the residential neighborhood, the potential for increased noise with vehicle service and modification operations.
