UPDATE: City of Oak Creek Selling Fire Hydrants to Citizens for Repurposing (sold out)

Citizens who decorate or re-purpose used hydrants may be featured on city's Facebook page.

UPDATE: The City of Creek announced Monday that all 42 fire hydrants have been sold in less than three days. Stayed tuned to the city's Facebook page to see if more become available.

OAK CREEK - Looking to spruce up your yard or garden with a one-of-a-kind piece and have 15 minutes of fame on social media? The City of Oak Creek is selling used fire hydrants for decorating and re-purposing and will feature completed projects on social media.

The hydrants have their working parts removed and are selling for $100, sales tax included, at the Water and Sewer Utility office, 170 W. Drexel Ave.

The city is cautioning that the hydrants weigh around 100 pounds each and the utility can't help load hydrants into customers' vehicles.

If you're looking to purchase a hydrant, please call the utility in advance at (414) 570-8210 so they can bring the hydrant to the parking lot.
