OAK CREEK, WI — The Drexel Town Square splash pad will reopen to the public on Memorial Day, according to Public Works Director Ted Johnson

The splash pad was technically operational last year but closed to the public due to concerns about COVID-19, Johnson said.

Barring any other issues, the interactive water installation should open up to the public once again on Memorial Day, Johnson said.

Users can interact with buttons on the splash pad to activate different water spray cycles. Other buttons allow users to further interact with the splash pad's water jets.

People will be free to run about the water or relax on the side when the splash pad is reopened on Memorial Day.

The spot opened initially in 2016 but quickly closed due to public concern about it being too slippery.

A new coating was installed on the splash pad surface to address those concerns, Johnson said.
