Longstanding Trattoria di Carlo Now Closed In Oak Creek
Sunday was the last day for the popular Oak Creek Italian restaurant. "Until we meet again," Chef Carlo said in a letter to the public.
OAK CREEK, WI—Trattoria di Carlo, a longstanding Oak Creek pizza shop and Italian restaurant also known by the community as Di Carlo's Pizza, closed its doors for the final time on Sunday, according to a letter on the restaurant's website.
The restaurant regularly served up classic Italian dishes ranging from pasta, salads and seafood to steak, calzones and of course, Chef Carlo's popular pizza, according to the restaurant's online menu. Oak Creek residents will have to find a new supplier of these classic Italian dishes, though- Sunday was the restaurant's final day open.
"This decision was not made lightly. In fact, it is one I have agonized over for quite some time, as I have worked many long days and nights away from home," owner and chef Carlo Pedone said in a statement on the restaurant's website. "While I will miss all of you—my patrons, my employees, my friends— the restaurant industry is very challenging right now and this is the right decision for my family."

Chef Carlo Pedone did not immediately respond to Patch's request for further comment.
Trattoria di Carlo has received acclaim through the years for its authentic Italian pizza recipes. The pizzas from Trattoria di Carlo were based on recipes that Pedone has been making with his father for over 40 years, Pedone told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Pedone grew up in Sicily where he cooked with his parents and grandparents until he moved back to the United States when he was 16 where he worked at his parent's restaurant, the Trattoria di Carlo website said.
Trattoria di Carlo was an Oak Creek restaurant for close to 20 years located at 8469 S. Howell Avenue in Oak Creek.
