OAK CREEK, WI — Wisconsin is emerging from its pandemic slumber right into the unofficial start of summer— Memorial Day weekend. Many enjoy the extra day off and hunt for family fun. Others may prioritize taking the time to recognize those that have fallen in the line of duty.

Here's what to do in Oak Creek over the long weekend.

Forest Hill Memorial Park will host its usual Memorial Day ceremonies. Honor our veterans at the ceremony starting at 11:30 a.m., located at 3301 E Forest Hill Ave in Oak Creek.

The long weekend will also bring some great time to get outside with family and friends.

Cool off at the splash pad on its reopening weekend. It was closed last year but coming back over Memorial Day weekend. The splash pad is a kid-friendly, interactive water fountain. Play about its jets or relax by the side.

The splash pad can be found at 361 W Town Square Way in Oak Creek.

If it's beer you're looking for, look west— Oak Creek's pop-up beer garden has yet to open, but Whitnall Park's beer garden will be open on Memorial Day.

The band Boondock Boogie will provide tunes for dancing. Of course, beer will be in attendance, too. The event starts at 2 p.m. Monday in Whitnall Park at 8831 N Root River Pkwy in Franklin.
