Music at St. Ann Center Market
Shopping for some exciting sounds? St. Ann Center will welcome The Non Prophets, an innovative local band, to its Indoor Market at 2801 E. Morgan Ave. on Saturday, Jan. 21.
The passionate group of pickers—featuring acoustic guitar, banjo, mandolin, violin and percussion—has been singing and playing together weekly for years in various pubs. “The band welcomes new musicians at any time and any talent level,” says charter member John Jansen. “The resulting sound is multi-generational and multi-instrumental, incorporating folk, rock, bluegrass, Americana and anything new that grabs us.”

Featured in Milwaukee Magazine’s Best of 2016 edition, the group performs as a picker’s circle, with players circling up and taking turns choosing a song that everyone in the circle joins in on. No two performances are alike, and audience participation is encouraged. The Non Prophets will perform from 10 a.m. – noon.
The Indoor Market opens at 9 a.m. and runs through 1 p.m. every Saturday through the end of April. Vendors offer grass-fed meat and poultry, free-range chicken eggs, organic produce, bakery and deli items, homemade soups, wild rice, handmade crafts, goat’s milk soaps, soy candles, eco-friendly household cleaners, sports accessories, jams, jellies and much more. The latest jewelry designs by Sr. Edna Lonergan, St. Ann Center president, will also be available for purchase.
