OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek-Franklin School District officials say they're setting up a full-time virtual schooling option for parents who do not want to send their children back to school in-person in the fall.

This week, district officials announced the OC Virtual program, a 100 percent online learning option that is scheduled for the entire 2020-21 school year. Officials said the program will offer "independent and predominantly self-paced learning experiences facilitated by teachers who support students as they work toward meeting the grade and/or course requirements."

Officials said parents would need to "commit to providing direct support" to their children in navigating the online learning systems, keeping track of their daily and weekly progress and finding ways to engage their children in learning.

District officials said an informational video summarizing OC Virtual, as well as full-time in-person schooling and a virtual school contingency plan will be outlined in an instructional video on Tuesday.
