Coronavirus Cases Rise In Oak Creek; 20s Age Group Has Most Cases

OAK CREEK, WI — Oak Creek has seen a marked increase in COVID-19 cases since around July 9, and people in their 20s appear to be hardest-hit by the virus, according to Oak Creek Health Department data.

On July 9, Oak Creek's 7-day average for new cases stood at 5.6. By Aug. 6, that figure has risen to 12.6. On July 31, Oak Creek set a new 24-hour record for new cases with 22. The previous highs were 19 on July 14, and 15 on July 9.

The hardest-hit areas of Oak Creek are located in two census tracts. One, which encompasses the entire south side of Oak Creek south of Ryan Road has 118 cumulative cases as of Aug. 6, and a second area in central Oak Creek between E. Drexel Ave. and E. Puetz Road has 112 as of the same date.

Health Department data shows that 364 of Oak Creek's 558 cumulative cases have ended in recovery. There are currently 178 active COVID-19 cases in Oak Creek as of Aug. 6 according to health department data.

Data show that people in their 20s have been hardest-hit by COVID-19 with 115 cases. People in their 40s and 50s each reported 85 cases to date. The elderly between 70-99 years old have reported a combined 50 cases to date.
