Oak Creek Outlasts Racine Horlick In Overtime
The Oak Creek Knights boys varsity basketball traveled to Racine to play Horlick on Friday, Jan. 4.

AK CREEK, WI -- The Oak Creek Knights boys varsity basketball team (5-7) needed overtime to defeat the Racine Horlick Rebels (3-7) Friday night, Jan. 4 in Racine.
Sophomore guard Jasin Sinani of Oak Creek led his team in scoring, collecting 24 of the team's 56 points in regulation. For Horlick, senior guard Marquise Milton led the team with 24 points. Teammate Stephon Chapman scored 11 for the Rebels and Jaydin McNeal chipped in nine points. Senior forward Zach Nytsch scored 13 for Oak Creek and Justin Duchniak scored 10 points.
The Knights held a 29 to 24 advantage at the end of the first half, buoyed by the team's three-point shooting. The Rebels started the game quickly, scoring on a variety of breakouts and layups before Oak Creek's defense tightened up.

Suffocating defense by Oak Creek senior guard Justin Duchniak frustrated the Rebels into a combination of fouls and early second-half turnovers, propelling the Knights to several second-half leads and some jeering by the home crowd's student section.
Oak Creek hit several timely free throws and forced Horlick into some challenging shots near the end of overtime to seal Friday night's win.

Oak Creek next plays Kenosha Tremper on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. in Oak Creek. Racine Horlick next plays Milwaukee King on Jan. 5 at 5:15 p.m. in Milwaukee.
