South Shore Vaccine Clinic Closing Thursday
Area health departments will now focus on community pop-up clinics and events. The departments are also now offering new incentives.

OAK CREEK, WI— The South Shore COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic (SSCV) will close as individual health departments such as Oak Creek's start to change their vaccination procedure to focus on community-based events and clinics, a news release said.
The clinic will remain open until Thursday, according to the release. Since its opening, the SSCV Clinic has distributed 15,000 vaccine shots, the news release said. The clinic came through a collaborative effort from multiple area health departments, the release said.
The clinic has been open since early March, the release said.

Resources saved from the clinic's closing will be redirected by individual health departments to support more community-focused vaccination drives, the release said.
Starting Monday, community area clinics will also offer a $25 gas card incentive for getting vaccinated at any of the south shore clinics including the Oak Creek Health Department, the Cudahy Health Department and the St. Francis/South Milwaukee Health Department.

Each health department will offer its own programs for vaccination in those older than 12, the news release said. Pfizer, Moderna and the Johnson & Johnson vaccines will continue to be offered in the area, the news release said.
Going forward, pop-up events will be offered at local community areas such as schools, places of worship, libraries and other familiar locations, the news release said.
