The Casper City Council is accepting additional applications from interested citizens who wish to serve as volunteer members of the City of Casper’s LGBTQ Advisory Committee. “We began taking applications around the time COVID-19 closed most community activities," explained Heidi Rood, City staff representative. "We think it is important to give the community another opportunity to be considered for this Council advisory committee." The committee’s purpose is to foster a more accepting and equitable community and to advise and educate the Casper City Council about LGBTQ issues in Casper. The City Council’s LGBTQ Advisory Committee will be comprised of between eight and twelve people serving one and two year terms. Meeting times vary and will, initially, be held monthly at Casper’s City Hall, located at 200 North David Street.
According to Rood, the ideal candidates are Casper residents with a passion for LGBTQ issues and the experience or skill needed to advise the City Council on ways to better serve Casper’s LGBTQ community.
