Few Spaces Remain For Casper College Judging Camp

A few spaces remain in the Annual Casper College Livestock Judging Camp. The fun and activity-packed camp will be held June 21-23 at the Grace Werner Agricultural Pavilion on the Casper College campus.

The camp, led by Jeremy Burkett, livestock judging coach and agriculture instructor, will be held June 21-23. Participants will focus on livestock evaluation with special emphasis on the presentation of oral reasons. Four learning divisions will be offered at the camp: novice, intermediate, advanced, and adult.

“Camp participants will interact with and learn from current industry professionals, coaches, and students to advance their judging skills further,” said Burkett. Example classes to be evaluated during the camp include market and breeding sheep, swine, cattle, and goats. In addition, the final day of camp will include a mock judging contest where competitors will put their knowledge and skills to the test. “The judging contest will be comprised of six placing classes and three sets of reasons,” Burkett noted.

The cost is $275 for students and $175 for advisers and includes lodging at the college’s Residence Hall, meals at the Tobin Dining Hall on campus, camp T-shirt, a large judging manual, a judging contest, and awards.
