Three-Acre Fire Near Sonoma State Backs Up Traffic, Closes Park

The CHP is urging motorists to avoid the area in Rohnert Park.

A brush fire that consumed three acres on Petaluma Hill Rd. near Laurel Drive in Rohnert Park has been contained, but traffic is snarled in the area east of Sonoma State University.

California Highway Patrol officials said just before 2 p.m. that officers were doing traffic control on Petaluma Hill Road between E. Cotati Avenue and the Rohnert Park Expressway, while firefighters battled the nearby blaze.

"Please avoid this area and do not park along Petaluma Hill Road to allow fire crews and equipment easy passage through the area," the CHP said.

Crane Creek Regional Park is also closed due to the fire, Sonoma County Regional Parks said on its Facebook page.
