2 Dead In Solo Rohnert Park Crash

Two people died in a wreck after their vehicle jumped a curb and hit two street signs, two trees and a traffic signal.

ROHNERT PARK, CA — Two people died Saturday night in a solo vehicle crash near the Foxtail Golf Club, the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety said.

An officer arrived at the scene after 9:25 p.m., where two women were found in a wrecked 2018 Mercedes Coupe — the driver died in the collision and the other was suffering from life-threatening injuries. As additional support arrived on the scene, the passenger died of her injuries, police said.

The identities and ages have not been publicly released. Police said it was unknown whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the collision.

The wreck was reported around 9:25 p.m. when the 2018 Mercedes Coupe hit a curb on the right side of the road while traveling at high speeds along westbound Golf Course Drive near Roberts Lake Road, police said.

The car reportedly jumped the curb, hit two street signs and two streets and finally a traffic signal, where the vehicle came to rest, witnesses told police.

The roadway was closed for nearly four hours while investigators collected evidence and statements.

"The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety send condolences to the families and friends of the victims in the tragic collision," officials said.
