Coroner IDs Woman Fatally Struck By SMART Train In Rohnert Park
The woman and her two small dogs died at the scene, according to the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety.
ROHNERT PARK, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified a woman struck and killed by a SMART train last week in Rohnert Park as 41-year-old Jennifer Danielle Price, of Rohnert Park.
Price was carrying her two small dogs, which also died, authorities said.
Two plainclothes detectives with the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety unfortunately witnessed the fatal incident, which happened at about 9:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the Golf Course Drive rail crossing, according to Aaron Johnson, a deputy police chief for the city of Rohnert Park.

The detectives were at the intersection; across the tracks from where they stood, they saw a woman cross through the pedestrian control device and then through the crossing arm to wait for the train to approach, Johnson said.
The detectives yelled at the woman to stop; however, she disregarded their warning and intentionally jumped into the path of the oncoming train, Johnson said.

After the train passed, the detectives ran toward the tracks and found the woman and her dogs deceased.
As of Monday afternoon, the coroner's office had not made a ruling about whether Price intended to take her own life.
"The investigation isn’t complete yet," Sonoma County sheriff's Sgt. Juan Valencia told Patch.
