The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office identified a woman who died when her car became pinned under a big rig at a Santa Rosa off-ramp.
SANTA ROSA, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff-Coroner's Office has identified a woman killed early Tuesday morning when she crashed into the back of a semi truck while exiting U.S. Highway 101 as Stephanie Miranda, 38 years old, of Santa Rosa. Miranda was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash on the Bicentennial Way off-ramp from northbound 101 in Santa Rosa, according to the California Highway Patrol.
CHP's preliminary investigation indicated Miranda was in the left lane of the two-lane ramp when she switched to the right lane in front of another vehicle, Santa Rosa-Area CHP Spokesman David deRutte said.
"For unknown reasons at this time, the Mazda continued moving to the right and drove onto the shoulder where it collided with the stopped truck," deRutte said. "Arriving officers located a Mazda that was pinned underneath the trailer of the truck."

The truck driver, a 35-year-old Reedley man, told CHP investigators he'd pulled off the freeway and parked his Freightliner on the right shoulder so he could look up directions to where he needed to go.
The off-ramp was closed until 4:30 a.m. Tuesday because of the collision.
