Firefighter Hurt, 2 Homes Damaged In Rohnert Park Structure Fire
Firefighters from multiple surrounding agencies responded to the two-alarm residential fire on Emily Avenue.
ROHNERT PARK, CA — A residential fire that broke out Tuesday at Emily and Eleanor avenues in Rohnert Park was brought under control by 6:30 p.m. but damaged two homes and injured a firefighter.
Crews from the Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety, Rancho Adobe Fire District, Petaluma Fire Department, Gold Ridge Fire and Sonoma County Fire responded around 4:30 p.m. to the house fire in the 1100 block of Emily Avenue.
"An officer was on scene within one minute and found the side of one home on fire as well the fence in between the adjacent residence," Rohnert Park DPS said. "The fire got into the attic of the main residence as well as the neighboring home which caused extensive damage."

The two-alarm fire was brought under control within one hour.
Both homes were deemed uninhabitable because of smoke, heat and water damage, Rohnert Park DPS Deputy Chief Aaron Johnson said. The loss between both homes was estimated at $800,000 and the cause of the fire was still under investigation Tuesday night.

Unfortunately, one firefighter from Sonoma County Fire suffered a laceration to their hand and was treated at a local hospital, Johnson said.
No other injuries were reported.
"The Department of Public Safety would like to thank the community members who quickly called 9-1-1 as well as began knocking on neighboring home doors to make sure the homes were evacuated," Johnson said.
