Driver, Dog Die In Stony Point Road Crash
California Highway Patrol issued a sig-alert and advised drivers to avoid using Stony Point Road from Cotati to Petaluma.
SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A Guerneville man's GMC Yukon crossed over double-yellow lines on Stony Point Road near Cotati and collided head-on with another SUV, killing the driver Tuesday, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Roger Coryell was driving the Yukon north on Stony Point Road around 4:10 p.m. when his vehicle struck a southbound Geo Tracker, CHP officials said.
The Geo driver and a dog in the back seat of Coryell's vehicle died at the scene, according to the CHP. The Geo driver's name has not yet been released.

Coryell was taken to a hospital and more details about his condition were not immediately available.
The fatal crash blocked Stony Point Road in both directions at West Railroad Avenue. A CHP Sig-alert was in effect for the roadway until at least 6:40 p.m. Tuesday, and CHP officials warned drivers to avoid using Stony Point Road from Cotati to Petaluma.
